Description

Students will engage with literature, websites, the outdoors and discussions in order to deepen their connection with trees in their community and develop an oral language presentation to share their knowledge.

Notes

Grades 2-3.

Learning Outcomes: It is expected that students will:

  • identify a local relevant environmental issue (Social Studies 3)

  • demonstrate a responsibility to the environment (Social Studies 2)

  • participate in activities to address a local environmental issue (Social Studies 3)

  • compare familiar plants according to similarities and differences in appearance and life cycles (Science 2)

  • ask questions that foster investigations and explorations relevant to the content (Science 2)

  • acquire and express ideas and information (Language Arts 1-3)

  • access prior knowledge and organize thinking (Language Arts 1-3)

  • make and share connections (Language Arts 1-3)

  • attempt to use resources wisely; if asked, offer ways to reduce, reuse and recycle in the classroom (Social Responsibility K-3)

Time Required: Four- 45 minute blocks
