Description

Through the Community Greenhouse at DTSS and outreach to schools, school gardens and farms, Groundswell offers active, hands on programs to students and teachers. Students learn practical horticulture skills and knowledge. They engage in activities about sustainability and healthy lifestyle choices. Some of the main themes are fostering food security, energy and water conservation and waste reduction. We can tailor programs to your students, integrate social, art, music and literacy skills and get them involved in research and learning to work. Greenhouse/classroom 1-2 hr, field trips half to full day.

Notes

Grades K-7.

We have consulted the ELE curriculum maps and a chart developed by Lifecycles that outline how the programs we offer can be used to teach PLOs from every subject area. In the process of booking dates, we would like to know how many students are in the class, whether there are any special needs or situations, whether they have SEAs and parents coming along, what other related projects they have done, prior knowledge and what their interests are.
