Description
An introduction to archaeology focusing on cultural-heritage sites and artifact remains from the Kootenay Regions and northwest North America. Although the focus is generally local, presentations can be adapted based on the grade level, curriculum topics and cultural areas being studied. School visits may include, but are not limited to, slideshows, discussions, hands-on activities, artifact displays, demonstrations (stone/bone tool production) and/or mock excavations. Field trips may be possible but are highly dependent if any local archaeological sites are in the vicinity or if active investigations are taking place.
Read Ian Tamasi's biography here.
Notes
Notes to teachers: If an excavation activity is requested, an empty space such as a gym or vacant room is preferred. Size would be dependent on the number of students attending.
