A Sign of Life

Author/Presenter: Sanne van der Ros Target Grades: Primary (K-3)
Availability: All Theme: Biodiversity and Wildlife
Cost: None School District: School District 6

Description

Through hands-on activities and active games, students will explore their local environment in this half-day outdoor program. Students will observe using their tuned-in senses looking for signs of evidence animals have been there. They will compare their findings, and share what they have learned during this guided exploration about local plants and animals. They will classify the plants and animals according to various characteristics that we will identify. Also, we will look at what these local plants and animals need to survive and how the daily and seasonal cycle affects this. They will learn the connection between the non-living world and the living world. Through learning about their environment, students will become aware of their own role in our surrounding area. All students will go home with something they created!
